AMF Tutorial

The lab developed a comprehensive QIIME 2-based tutorial for AMF metabarcoding analysis in collaboration with the Caporaso Lab (Northern Arizona University). The tutorial, featured in the International Mycorrhiza Society Newsletter (November 2025), provides standardized pipelines for 18S rRNA processing, taxonomic assignment using the MaarjAM database, and downstream ecological analyses, and has been widely adopted for reproducible AMF diversity studies.

Spun Grant

The lab is currently leading a SPUN-funded Underground Explorers Program project (2026–2027) titled “Climate and Land-Use Drivers of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungal Diversity in the Undersampled Indo-Gangetic Plains Agroecosystem.” This work generates the first systematic AMF baseline across irrigation and salinity gradients in Haryana, trains local students and farmers, and contributes open data to global mycorrhizal mapping initiatives. This research was supported with an Underground Explorers grant from the Society for the Protection of Underground Networks (SPUN).

Records across 23 states

The iAMF database documents 161 arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal species across 23 states of India (Gupta et al., 2017). Data were curated from primary surveys in eight states (2015–2018) and 99 secondary studies (2008–2018), with GPS locations, taxonomy, and molecular sequences.
